Permanent Eyeliner Aftercare
Follow these instructions carefully to support proper healing and beautiful, natural-looking lash-line definition. The eye area is delicate, so gentle care is especially important.
Your Healing Journey
First 24–72 Hours
Mild to moderate swelling is common, especially upon waking. The liner will appear dark and bold.
- With freshly washed hands and the eyes closed, gently cleanse the treated eyeliner area using a fresh disposable pad lightly dampened with clean, lukewarm water. Carefully pat the area dry with a fresh, dry disposable pad. Continue this gentle cleaning method throughout the healing period.
- Avoid rubbing, scrubbing, or applying pressure to the treated lash line.
- If you wear contact lenses, follow the guidance of your prescribing eye-care professional regarding when to resume use.
- If it is comfortable and safe for you, you may choose to rest with your head slightly elevated, as this may help minimize swelling. Do not change a medically recommended sleeping position. Contact your licensed healthcare provider if you are uncertain about what is appropriate for you.
Days 3–7
By days 3–4, swelling should be minimal or resolved. If it persists, worsens, or is accompanied by pain, redness, discharge, or vision changes, seek medical advice
- Mild dryness or light flaking may occur as the skin heals naturally. The color may appear much lighter than desired, this is refer as the "ghosting phase"
- Do not pick or peel the treated area.
- Avoid eye makeup, skincare actives such as professional facials, and direct sun.
Ongoing Healing (Weeks 2–6)
The color gradually resurfaces and settles into its final shade. Some areas may appear lighter during this phase.
- The true healed color is visible at 4 to 6 weeks.
- Protect the area with SPF once healed.
- If needed, schedule your touch-up for 6 to 8 weeks post-treatment
What to Avoid Until Fully Healed
- Water sports/recreation activities, swimming, sauna
- Eye makeup or skin care on treated area
- Exposing the treated lash line to direct shower spray
- Direct sun exposure
What Is Commonly Normal
- Mild to moderate swelling, especially in the morning (up to 3 days)
- Darker, thicker appearance in the first few days
- Light flaking as the skin exfoliates
- Slight color fading during the ghosting phase
