    Scalp Micropigmentation Aftercare

Follow these instructions to support proper healing and long-lasting results. The scalp is sensitive after treatment, so careful aftercare helps protect your investment.

    Your Healing Journey

    First 24–48 Hours

The treated area will appear darker and more defined than the final result. Mild redness and tenderness are normal.

    • Do not wash the scalp for the first 4 to 5 days.
    • Keep the area dry and clean; avoid touching.
    • Avoid hats or headwear that may rub the treated area.

    Days 3–7

The pigment may begin to flake lightly as the skin exfoliates. The color may appear slightly lighter during this phase.

    • After day 4–5, wash gently with lukewarm water and a mild, fragrance-free cleanser.
    • Do not pick, scratch, or scrub the flaking area.
    • Avoid sweating, swimming, and direct sun exposure.

    Ongoing Healing (Weeks 2–4)

The pigment settles into its final shade. Some fading is normal and will be addressed at your next session.

    • The final healed color is visible around 4 weeks.
    • Protect the scalp with SPF or a hat once healed.
    • Schedule your next session 2 to 4 weeks after treatment.

    What to Avoid

    • Washing the scalp for 4–5 days
    • Heavy sweating for 5–7 days
    • Swimming and saunas for 14 days
    • Direct sun exposure for 4 weeks
    • Exfoliating or harsh scalp products
    • Tight hats or headwear that rubs

    What Is Commonly Normal

    • Darker, more saturated appearance initially
    • Mild redness and tenderness for 1–2 days
    • Light flaking as the skin exfoliates
    • Some fading between sessions, refined at follow-ups

    Contact Your Technician

Contact your technician if you have questions about your normal healing progress, pigment or color changes, flaking or peeling, aftercare instructions, whether the appearance of your scalp is typical for the stage of healing, or your scheduled follow-up session. If you are unsure about something you are seeing during the healing process, contact your technician for guidance.

    When to Seek Medical Care

Permanent makeup aftercare questions and medical concerns are not the same thing. Your technician can help with normal healing and cosmetic questions, but possible medical complications should be evaluated by an appropriate healthcare professional.

Seek prompt medical advice if you experience:

    • Severe or worsening pain
    • Significant or increasing swelling
    • Redness that is spreading or becoming progressively worse
    • Unusual warmth around the treated area
    • Pus-like or unusual drainage
    • Fever or feeling significantly unwell
    • Symptoms of an allergic reaction
    • Any symptom that feels severe, rapidly worsens, or causes significant concern

For severe symptoms, difficulty breathing, or signs of a serious allergic reaction, seek urgent medical care or emergency assistance.

    Healing Timeline

    • Days 1–2: Dark, slightly red, tender
    • Days 3–7: Light flaking, color softens
    • Weeks 2–3: Pigment settles
    • Week 4: Final healed color
    • Weeks 2–4: Next session scheduled

    Touch-Up / Follow-Up Guidance

Most clients require 2 to 3 sessions for optimal density and coverage. Follow-up sessions are spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart to allow full healing between treatments.
